Major Changes for Summer Session! May 19, 2013Badger Poker is pleased to announce some major changes and improvements in our overall league structure. In accordance with your feedback, these changes and improvements are intended to:
• Increase the integrity of the game
• Increase transparency
• Improve player accountability
• Enhance the overall player experience through improved customer service and a simpler overall structure
Here is a summary of the changes that will go into effect at the beginning of the summer session:
1. DISTRIBUTION OF EXTRA CHIPS: Extra chips (drink chips, tip chips, etc.) will only be added to any player's stack by the designated Tournament Director, in order to ensure that legitimate chips are entering the tournament.
What this means for you: When you make bar purchases, your bartenders will hand out tokens that can be redeemed at the table with the Tournament Director. Simply wave the tickets so that the TD can see them, and he or she will redeem them for the appropriate value in tournament chips.
2. TRANSITION TO A SYSTEM OF FOUR $5K QUARTERLIES: Instead of our current system of four $1500 prize pool quarterlies and one $10k yearly final tournament, we will now practice a simplified and enhanced system of four $5k quarterlies.
Why make this change? One reason is that it will be easier for you to know where you are in the standings. The only ranking you will need to pay attention to will be the overall leaderboard. Another reason is to increase the level of excitement. Players will have multiple chances every year to play in a very big, high-stakes tournament. No matter what day it is, you will never be more than three months away from a $5k prize pool final tournament.
What this means for you: Badger Bucks and super credits, which have become a competitive concern, will no longer be necessary. Don’t worry–you’ll still have plenty of chances to use up your existing super credits. We will hold a couple of final “super” tourneys, and allow a period of a few weeks during the summer session where Badger Bucks can still be redeemed at the location from where they were issued. Ultimately, we will replace the existing Badger Poker-sponsored “super” tourneys with a more broadly appealing structure.
3. INCREASED RESPONSIBILITIES FOR TOURNAMENT DIRECTORS: Tournament Directors—and Tournament Directors alone—will always do the equipment set-up and take-down, as well as the chip color-ups during breaks. Tournament Directors also will be expected to deal the final table after they have been eliminated from play themselves. Although our TDs certainly appreciate the help offered with these duties by other players in the past, assigning these tasks solely to the TD will improve transparency, consistency, and customer service.
What this means for you: With the addition of these new duties, along with the responsibility of redeeming drink tickets, we will be relying heavily upon our TDs to maintain an enjoyable overall experience for all players. Please continue to tip them generously at the start of each tournament!
Badger Poker will release more details regarding about these rule changes as they are unrolled next session. But the three items above cover the broad strokes of what you can expect to see. We realize that there will be a period of transition as we finish out the final yearly qualifiers and crown a yearly champion. Please bear with us while we, too, get used to some of these changes—and please continue to share your feedback with us! **LAST OF THE YEARLY FINALS QUALIFIERS** May 18, 2013Once the In-House Finals are completed, here are the dates of the last qualifiers before the 2013 $10,000 Yearly Finals on 6/8 & 6/9.
